Understanding users intentions and satisfying them
This is a basic premise on which you should start working: the user experience is everything. If you understand that, you get the basics of this matter. Decades ago, an SEO strategy simply focused on keywords, but today it is essential to start working on user’s intentions, and it must be the frame of your SEO performance. Stop pleasing Google: you are working for common users.
Start by answering the following questions: What kind of questions is the user doing? What information does the user need? What is the main purpose of his search? To this extent, the idea is to connect user questions with his intentions; and then connecting so with the content of the website. Naturally, the topic will give you the right keywords that users are looking for.
You must keep in mind that users’ intentions may lead you to a direct marketing action. Several SEO consultants are obsessed with semantic content optimization, but the truth is that it is a hopeless activity, simply because semantics don’t bring any benefit to users whatsoever. It is barely an illusion about how good you are optimizing your work. Keep the following words in mind:
No mobile: no SEO, that’s it. This is a clear principle you must always implement. It’s about adapting to new technologies and trends, and today’s trend is undoubtedly smartphone technology. From April 2015, Google has started to punish websites with the worst positions when they have not adapted their sites to all kinds of devices (they call it responsive design).
You just can’t think of an SEO strategy if your website is not optimized for mobile. A couple of years, Google promoted sites adapted to devices. Now, if your website can’t be seen from a smartphone (because it takes so long to load, because an incompatible interface, etc.) Google will penalize your website in the search rankings (and rightly so.)
In order to increase the positioning of your website, it is vital to count on a domain of authority, and constantly strengthen the same link, since it strongly influences the indexation of your pages, regardless of whether they are blogs, static pages or any other type of website.
An effective way to do so is by comparing yours with other blogs that publish similar topics, and thus visualize how their information is able to attract more links or make more calls from other websites. This is known as Linkbaiting, and no, it’s not forbidden by Google.

Flash is highly attractive and even addictive for web designers, but the sad truth is that flash images are not SEO-friendly. Search engine crawlers can’t read Flash texts. Therefore, whenever you use images on your web pages, describe them properly on the label so that search engine crawlers can read the description and be aware of what are the images about. Similarly, while using videos and podcasts, be sure to use the appropriate command sequence so that they can read it.
Interact with users
Simple, but powerful advice. Everything evolves so fast on the Internet, and the opinion of people and their reactions to products and services are tremendously important. Actually, the social media have more relevance in the SEO world than ever. If you have already created a pertinent content to users, if you have worked hard on the structure of your website to focus on relevant keywords, now let the reader help you to promote your website (either by Facebook likes, retweets or any other social network tool).
Being social is crucial in order to reach the first positions on Google. Study your competitions and analyze how they spend so much time on sharing their contents.
Use relevant keywords
Remember the first advice of this post: users’ intentions are paramount. Keywords are important, without any doubt, but they are always secondary when compared to user’s intentions.
Again: Don’t get obsessed with complex semantic variants, because it will saturate your content in awful ways. In fact, it would be a clear sign of spam and penalty by any search engine. It is important that your website looks natural and that users find it useful and entertaining. Remember: that’s the basic principle here.
