When you decide to have your own website, you give it a landing page to your tastes and ideas about what you want to see on the Internet. The process usually focuses on a design that the owner of the page, an average person with no knowledge of programming, SEO or digital marketing; you put content, images, promotions, but still you do not get the amount of visitors you want or fail to capture their attention for long enough, which makes you wonder why they do not like my page?

Most people who come to a website do it through a Google search, looking for quality and valuable information, but some components of the site can make any visitor flee:

1. Not having a mobile-friendly design

The search on mobile devices has increased in recent years, for this reason not having a design suitable for mobile devices makes life difficult for your readers, who prefer to abandon your page and look for another source. Considering the needs and view from the mobile device helps you to give a better experience when visiting your page; the factors that are evaluated are: font size, hyperlinks, download time, among others.

2. Content irrelevant to the title

There is nothing more disappointing than clicking on a search result in the search engine with a very attractive title, which turns out to be a hoax or a simple hook to gain visits quickly; this type of content gets a high bounce rate, as well as few social actions — they can even be reported; instead choose valuable and interesting content, which make you want to share on social networks.

3. Pop-ups

Some users love pop-ups, for others they are downright annoying; these pop-ups can lead users who entered your site somewhere else, making them forget to come back to see your content. If the pop-up is a call to attention from your website itself, put yourself in the place of your users; invitations to subscribe to your email newsletter can stay at the top of the page and not be invasive or you can try different buttons. But if the pop-up is for ads, consider eliminating them and bet on user preference.

4. Confusing content

Misleading, weak, confusing or erroneous content will discredit your website as a source of information; go for truthful content, informative texts and quality content. You can place images, videos, news, articles, anything that enriches your website.

Betting on fresh, original and relevant content will be reflected in more visits to your website. Remember that Google loves quality and rewards it with higher visibility.

5. Slow loading time

Did you know that 40% of users abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load? The slowness of your page can affect conversions, even Google Analytics may not record these short visits and may even be punished with a low web positioning or a call for attention from Google to improve the speed. Using tools like Google Page Speed will allow you to know the real speed with which your site loads.
